Cameron and Lauren - How we met

Our Story

How we met

We grew up going to the same elementary and middle schools and never once really spoke to each other. Then, Cameron moved to Vegas, and that probably should've been the end of the story (if he weren’t the Ryan Gosling to my Notebook!).

At the end of 2018, Cameron reached out to Lauren on Instagram (slid into the DMs as they say) like the smooth operator he is. We talked on and off for a while, and eventually Cameron worked up the nerve to ask Lauren out.

She said no. Then he asked again, and she said no again — distance, timing, all very sensible reasons. Turns out persistence works, because by March of 2020, "no" finally became "okay, fineee, yes." Just in time for the entire world to shut down weeks later.

So we spent the early part of our relationship getting to know each other at a distance and taking constant trips to San Diego <> Las Vegas. Until we finally decided to move in together in late 2022.

The proposal

In June 2024, we road-tripped through Wyoming — Jackson Hole to Deadwood, with a stop at the Grand Tetons. Cameron had been acting weird all day, especially when we asked other people to take pictures of us....

We pulled over so Lauren could take more mountain photos, and when she turned around, thinking she found Cameron photographing a gopher on the ground (a very normal Cameron activity), he was kneeling and holding a ring instead.

June 8th, 2024. Right in front of the Grand Tetons in the background with bison, elk, wild horses, and yes... those pesky gophers as our witness.

Cameron and Lauren - The next chapter

The next chapter

We've spent the last four years figuring out how to be in the same place — San Diego, then Vegas, then finally, actually together in one city with one address. Turns out that was just the warm-up.

October 21st, 2027, we make it official in the desert we now call home. After a slow start, we're not exactly rushing into anything — but we're ready for whatever's next.

Married life, more road trips, probably a dog at some point, and hopefully a lot fewer gophers involved in future big moments.

We can't wait to celebrate with you.
